Business Organization End of The YEAR Tips

Did you reach your goals for the year?

Business Organization

1.  Be Crystal Clear About Your Goals
If you are selling an item,  whether it’s an idea, or your company’s product or your own service. Writing content that adds email subscribers to your list is the way to go. Each email is a potential client or sale so you see how important this tip is.

How well did you do with your email list?

I started with yet another email client. I will be working on building my email list using  Convert Kit. Features are built by bloggers, for bloggers. They know what it takes to grow a successful online business. They have an app with features tailored to our needs as bloggers.

Too many email marketing tools get in your way. I have tried many different types and yes they do make it complicated. ConvertKit’s email automation tool is simple but powerful. With our visual automation builder, you can send well-timed, targeted content to the humans in your audience so you can stay focused on what matters most: growing your online business. I have an email course lined up for someone who has a simple to use course with ConvertKit. Business organization for the end of the year

2.What Is The Fastest Way To Grow Your Traffic?
Post somewhere, and then link it back. Social email and direct traffic will form your basis for a consistent traffic stream. However, the best way to attract a large number of new readers is to post on other sites with more traffic than your blog and then it link back. A good source of this type of traffic is done on something called a Round-Up post. You can do one yourself, simply email your list of bloggers and ask a simple question about how they achieved something.  Compile their answers with their pics and 1or 2 lines from them. They will distribute your article to their friends. Bringing in new readers is critical, without traffic your business will only be on your screen -alone!

Another idea would be to join a blogging community. These are very helpful for new bloggers just starting out, or even for bloggers with experience. See my signature for the Blogging Community that I am associated with. I am the welcome coordinator for this growing blog community.

3. Life Time Marketing Tools – Your BLOG or  your Facebook Page (s)
It doesn’t really matter what you may be selling, you should design your content to guide potential customers through a buying process. This is referred to as a buying funnel. Educate your customers about a product, cultivate people as an expert and convince them to buy your product or service and close the sale internally right on your site or re-direct people to your blog in the case of Facebook.

Some people use the personal page that Facebook gives to you when you join for business. It says in the TOS that the personal page is NOT for business use. They have Facebook Business pages that you create for doing business. These pages also have analytics so you can see what traffic you are getting. I do not post about business on my personal page, but others do share my articles, and they show on my personal page. I thank them for sharing. I have 5 business pages.

4. Resources – How To Find Awesome Content Sources
For Facebook posts try checking out Tumblr with its tons of content. The search tool helps find content using hashtags. Such as Most Popular, Most Recent, or sort by Text, Photos, Quotes, Links, Chat or Audio. Always remember to cite your source. Give credit where credit is due, always.

Also, another way that I find subjects for my articles is to use Google search. I also use another search engine  -Pinterest. Use of keywords for both works very well. A business listing with Google My Business is also a great idea. More on that next time.

5. A Marketers Group
Another source of business organization to use is Inbound.org. https://inbound.org/top  Content on the website is based on votes from users. You can receive email daily or weekly to your email box. Subjects on Inbound such as Marketing tools, Search, Social Media Tips, Content Marketing, Conversion, Analytics, Mobile and Startup Marketing. Google sends you information based on the keywords you ask.

6. Photos or Images
I use Free Digital Marketing.com – With a very large inventory of pics that you can use. It has paid photos or a pic free if you site the source including the artist’s name in your post.  Also, can use Flickr for photos or I use a lot of my own photographs.

Here is a list of other Free Photographs that I use.

7. Use a Good Mentor

I have found a few that I follow. I get to know them online from something they have posted, such as a blog post linked from Pinterest. I liked the way that they have branded themselves and the products that they have to sell. I have taken many courses that have helped me enormously. For the new year I have found one women that is very good at marketing. I have bought her courses and her book. You can read more about that here. (Goal setting and a  great planner.)

There are all kinds of ways of writing website content for your posts and blogs. Next time you have articles to write, gather these resources and you will find it a much easier way to write your content.

Engagement on Facebook

What to post on Facebook for Engagement

Getting engagement on your fan or business page is very important! You probably already know that.

Just HOW to get that engagement you may not understand…

Facebook engagement

It’s all to do with Facebook’s Algorithm called Edge Rank. At the end of this article is an excellent community on Facebook that is increasing engagement with Facebook Challenges.

Facebook has its own formula that scores every item of content that you post. It determines how many people who follow you or businesses, that will see your post. No one outside of Facebook knows the exact the way this is scored.

You know that they update the algorithm all the time. Right? Changes based on what Facebook sees that is working best, or that allows different formats to be seen more.

In 2010 when the Edge rank system was first introduced, fewer people were posting videos on Facebook. Now with video being so very popular, it  is something that Facebook wants to encourage more people to use. It’s own video not YouTube.

2016 There were…
651,835,100 million active users on Facebook. Taken from
http://www.howmanyarethere.net/how-many-facebook-users-are-there/

As of the third quarter of 2017, Facebook had 2.07 billion monthly active users. In the third quarter of 2012, the number of active Facebook users had surpassed 1 billion, making it the first social network ever to do so. Active users are those which have logged in to Facebook during the last 30 days.

• Facebook users worldwide 2017 | Statista

https://www.statista.com/statistics/…/number-of-monthly-active-facebook-users-worldwi…

Stats from Facebook’s SME Director

. Average person checks Facebook on their phone 14 x a day
. Over 1 Billion people use Facebook on their Phone every day
. Cisco predicted that by 1016 69% of internet traffic will be  driven by mobile video

The actual representation of Edge Rank consists of:
Each individual story eg: a status update, comment, Like, tag, comment, and share etc.

Each of these is called an Edge.

Affinity score: How close you are to the person doing the posting. If you frequently interact with the person posting, several mutual friends, or are related.

* Someone posting on your page would carry more weight than someone simply liking a status update.

DECAY: As your post gets older, it’s more likely that it has already been seen or that is is no longer relevant. So Facebook takes the age of the post into consideration.

Facebook Engagement
Startup Business People Working on Laptop

Your posts from your Business page – getting better reach if…

Here are some ideas you can try.
1. Increase Your Affinity Score.
(A natural attraction, liking, or feeling of kinship: )
To increase your affinity score build relationships and have conversations on Social Media. If you encourage people to reply, comment and discuss things on your facebook page you will increase your affinity score. No begging to like your page.

2. Edge Score. To gain a higher edge score, you need to create more stories. Ensure that your status updates that you post have a question (because people will comment) Show how creative you are, because the more eye-catching or entertaining and varied your updates are, the better you will do.

3. Tracking the Decay Factor
While some posts are more time-sensitive than others, if you post about a news article, it’s unlikely to stay at the top of anyone’s news feed for very long. A good measure is often to take note of how many people have seen your post, which you can see under any post on a business page. Sometimes a post will do well for a couple of days, so leave your audience time to enjoy it before adding something new.

4. Trends
Facebook does now keep track of what’s trending. See the trends panel on the right side of the Newsfeed and if anything that would be right for your business to comment on then do so.

5. Sharing Content and Mentioning Other Pages
Whenever you share content from another brand, try and remember to Tag their Facebook page in the post. When you do so, not only will the brand see that you have mentioned them, other brand’s fans also see the post as well. This is particularly true if your brands or audiences are similar, so don’t just tag big name brands to try and get exposure – you must stay and be relevant.

6. Hard Sales
Stay Social. Social Media users don’t want to be sold to.  Do you? The occasional offer or promotion is fine, but not every post! Facebook will also recognize a sales post over a non-sales update and if sales are all you’re posting, they will make sure you’re seen by fewer people.

Remember there are no hard and fast rules for getting better visibility on Facebook. This is just a guide. You might find that a certain style of update works really well for your business and if that’s the case keep doing it – but do mix it up with a few other things. Use videos /quotes in text /images/ pictures/, questions etc.

Exciting Affiliate Programs for the Holidays to Do Now

Why are Affiliate Programs such a popular business model for generating income online?

They allow you to get products together for sale on your online business for a cheap or even free price. I have found some great marketers who are doing just that now. Here are their tips on how they are doing their affiliate marketing for the holidays…

Affiliate Products

If you are looking to increase your holiday sales & holidays shopping, keep these dates in mind.

  • Thanksgiving in the USA:   Black Friday
  • Small Business Saturday
  • Cyber Monday and of course
  • CHRISTMAS SPECIALS.

Start your online affiliate sales programs now! Your competitors already have holiday shopping income on their minds. Time to start your affiliate advertising for the holidays… I have a few ideas for you!

Editorial Planner
Holiday Celebrations

Your online affiliate programs for your holiday marketing efforts should include an investment in social media to increase commerce and strengthen your brand reach.  Socializing types of commerce,  such as on Instagram and tapping into the user-generated content on Pinterest are two options.  Facebook remains the biggest in social media in 2017.

Despite the rising popularity of other networks. Most people, from the research I have found, will PLAN ON using  Facebook during the holidays or Pinterest in combination with Affiliate Programs. You go where the customers are.

Brand your social media on Facebook easily with holiday type themes, incorporate holiday hashtags on Twitter and Instagram. Other tactics include using time-limited offers to create a sense of urgency using a countdown timer such as the day sale specials on Black Friday or Cyber Monday that inspires customers to visit your site or Facebook business page.

How To Use Affiliate Programs

From a friend’s facebook page, Suzi Whitfield on how to use Affiliate links from Amazon. Get up to 10% in advertising fees Earn advertising fees from Qualifying Purchases, not just the products you advertised. It’s only a 24 hr cookie. Use the HTML link from Amazon on your blog as I have done with my planner that I am promoting.

PINTEREST

Attract Ideal Clients with Pinterest

Search on Pinterest for your niche.  “Gift guides for Christmas.”  You will see where they are affiliates for many programs. Click thru to their blogs and gift guides.  or search for things like  “Target affiliate programs”.

Amazon has a rule that you can’t use cloaks such as pretty links for the URLS Use the URL as is. They supply the HTML link for you to use. Suzi suggested that you use that on the text side of your blog when you are applying it.

You also can’t use their images as pin images. If they change the HTML  link then it will change on your site as well. You can be shut down by Amazon if you don’t follow their TOS.

The Headlines you use are very important.  Be specific.  “Best Christmas truck for 3-year-old boys“. Niche down as much a possible. If you purchase something you can add an image of it with little boys playing with it, you don’t have to show their faces Suzi mentioned.  Use your keywords as an overlay on the image, in the description itself. Mentioning the year she said was a good idea. But don’t put it in the URL of the image, if you want to use next year.

Best Christmas Gift Ideas for Affiliates

  • Always disclose that you are showing images with affiliate links before they show up.
  • Use some text to get people interested in what you are selling.
  • Do a review of the product that you purchased and if you endorse it why you are doing so.
  • Know what your audience wants and how this product will help them.

Don’t show the price.   If there is no price they will have to click thru. Highlight the image, center it and connect it to a new tab. If it’s too expensive they just might see something else that they like and will click thru and make a purchase anyway. Add some other items from a few programs that you are an affiliate. What appeals to one person may not to another.

Best Christmas Gift Planners for Bloggers
My example would be the one I purchased. CREATE A One Year Blog & Editorial Planner by Meera Kothand.

I am truly excited to have purchased this all in one planner for 2018.  Meera has the best planner I have found in months of searching and I went through many many marketers courses and programs to find hers. ~ Kathryn Maclean

I have been following Meera and she is such a terrific marketer! I first read an article of hers on Pinterest and was impressed with her knowledge of email marketing.  I signed up for her 5 Day Intensive email series and then continued to Amazon from her site.  Very prolific I have opted in for many of her programs. I recommend her work highly. ~Kathryn

Affiliate Marketers

This post on Affiliate marketing was inspired by another blogger I admire, a former Engineer  Suzi Whitfield, as I mentioned above who runs the Start A Mom Blog business. She is a stay at home Mom with three little children. The video that I listened to recently from her Facebook page, was the basis for my article.  I am an affiliate for some of her products one of which is  Blog By Number  A Step by Step Guide to How to Start a Mom Blog.

Suzi said to use search words on Pinterest so people will find your information. Use the same image on the page that people will click thru to. Don’t forget to use your Alt tags with the keywords. You can use plugins or the chrome ext to pin your image to Pinterest. Add your keywords to your description. There are 100s of affiliate programs to choose from. They track you so you are a free sales team for them, they pay you when they make money.

On Picmonkey you can create a college like this one. Suzi has a free course on Picmonkey  Or you create a flat lay  -(Aesthetically arrange inanimate objects ) to show a product in your home.

Affiliate programs

CREATE  I have also used this to connect with my landing page for my affiliate link for the planner.  You can promote this to your Facebook business page also your Facebook personal page. On Twitter, certainly on Pinterest and on Instagram if the size is ok. On Picmonkey you can use Roger for a smaller size or in the editor change the size.

Use The End Of The Year To Your Advantage.

It’s a perfect time for your fans to get to know you a little more as well as your business a little better. Post pics of your celebrations on your Facebook profile page. Feature items from your site on your Facebook Fan page/Business pages.

Before publishing, (on any social media platform) ask yourself these quick questions:

  • Is this post unique enough to stop someone in the feed? I create my own images using Canva or Picmonkey to make them special.  Instagram from my PC using  Instamate or just direct using my phone.
  • Does it capture their attention to read/watch/ engage/or share the post? Most shared images are quotes or subjects done on a holiday season theme. Don’t forget Holiday gifs this year.
  • Is this post a personal story /funny video? Visually does it still stand out? Family pics are always unique and if you add text to them they stand out and look great. Online family Christmas cards?

Affiliate programs for you…
This is one of the most profitable ways to make money on the internet. Particularly during the holidays. There are so many discounts and extra special prices  going around for special  days like Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday,

Finding which programs are best can be a lot of work. Which online affiliate programs should you promote? Which products do you use?  Clickbank, Shareasale, JV Zoo? Should you could be an affiliate for Aweber, GetResponse or my fav  Convert Kit? The list goes on and on. It depends on experience. You find what is right for you.

I have a RECOMMENDATIONS   < page with Free  Products that I use on my site and some that I am an affiliate for.

Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Pinterest Marketing

Do you think you know about Pinterest Marketing?

What you DO NOT know about Pinterest may just be something you should know. Don’t hold yourself back concerning your website/blog traffic. Pick up some tips here on Pinterest marketing … It’s free traffic

Pinterest Primer

With the holiday season just around the corner as I write this, getting your content seen on Pinterest marketing is now going into Primetime. It’s the busiest season of the year with the highest traffic time for bloggers and online business owners.

Here are some awesome facts about this huge search engine. Yes Pinterest is a Search Engine.

1. Pins last forever it seems,  for weeks, months, even years after you pin an image.

2. Inspiration on steroids!  If you spend a few mins on Pinterest you will see something that impresses you enough to go read the article on the blog that it came from. That is free promotion for blog owners!

So What Exactly is Pinterest?   (If you are new to Pinterest read this article)

It’s a VISUAL SEARCH ENGINE, and works much the same as Google. It is the 3rd largest search engine, after Google and YouTube. So what do search engines use? Yes keywords! That is exactly how Pinterest works as well. If you want to rank your business or your website or blog in the search results on Pinterest you need to be extremely targeted with the keywords that you use…

Where to use your keywords.
Your name on Pinterest. In your description of your profile. In your specific board titles. Board descriptions and overlays of your images. Long tail keywords in board descriptions, alt tags, meta descriptions, snippets.

Alt tag Pin description pulls from the alt tag. Adding tags to images. Alt Text before Description. Alternative text from the Caption. Use the Yoast plugin for WP to change your Meta Descriptions as setting at the bottom of each page and post. Snippet previews seen under the title and url on listings.

Goal Setting Strategy

Goal Setting is a  process or strategy of setting goals to help you choose where you want to be in life. How you want your business to grow. Who you want to be and precisely what you want to achieve in the certain amount of time with a solid direction and your desired outcome in mind.

The biggest challenge most people face when setting goals is simply setting too many goals. This leads to feelings of overwhelm from the start and usually leads to giving up on them relatively quickly.

Don’t wait for 2018, gain momentum BEFORE the new year. Don’t wait to set NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS, start NOW!

Goal setting is a powerful process for thinking about your ideal future. Motivating yourself to turn your vision of this future into a reality. I searched for tips from some of the well-known people in marketing online to help with this strategy.

Goal setting
Startup Business People

Dr. Ivan Misner
Chairman of BNI the world’s largest networking organization

Dr.Misner has written 16 books including the New York Times bestseller Truth or Delusion?

Misner is a columnist for Entrepreneur.com and Business Insider and has featured in the L.A. Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and other publications.

“I always set goals and objectives before the end of the year.” – Dr. Misner.

Setting Goals

I set three levels of goals.
#1. A high goal that I can shoot for – if everything goes perfectly, and the low goal if everything went terribly wrong. Then the target goal, a number goal.

#2. Reverse engineer your goals – in 3 mths where will you be? 6mth to 9 and 12 mths.

#3. Monthly work out what you need to hit your target.
The action is part of the attraction, use bullet point action steps to specifically hit your target.

Have it all planned out before the new year starts. Set yourself up for Success in 2018.

Learn from failure this year to make next year better

Did you know that Bill Gates didn’t seem like a shoe-in for business after dropping out of Harvard? He started a failed first business with Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen called Traf-O-Data. While his earlier idea didn’t work, Gates later work did, creating the global empire that is Microsoft and became one the richest men in the world.

Setting Goals

Set a numeric goal  Example  $100,000 (approximately) next year

  • 12= $8,333 /mth  – 52 = $1923 / week – 260 = $385 /weekday  – 2080 = $274 / day – 2920 = $34/hr

Figure out a strategy

  • What is your business plan, map out a step by step plan of what you will offer to reach your goals

Do the work

  • You can not do everything, delegate work to outside sources or higher people for your team.

Find solutions

  • Improve on what your statistics were for last year. Learn from your mistakes.

Measure results

  • Have data on everything you do. Use tools like Asana, CoSchedule, or AirTable, excellent for working with a team.
  • Learn from each situation
  • Assess what worked
  • Assess what did not work
  • Ask for feedback
  • Don’t give up

Setting Your Business Goals – “The Rule of 3”  Marketer  –Jo Barnes

“We’ve all heard how important goal setting is right?
With 2018 almost upon us, we’re all set to reflect on the past year, and set our intentions and goals for the year ahead.” – Jo Barnes

What is your Big Picture?

The Rule Of Three

Goal setting

Have a very clear picture of what you want your business to look like in a year, 5 years even 10 years. Write them down and put them where you see them, every day!

Step 1
List 3 Specific Goals for the next 12 mths  ( your subconscious  believes what you tell it )
Written in present tense such as:
1. I am earning $5,000 / mth
2. I have 5,000 people on my customer email list
3. I get 5,000 hits/mth on my blog

Step 2
Daily goals
1. I must sell 16 products a day at $99 or 32 products at $49.50 or 8 at $199 etc
2. I must get 137 people a day onto my email list
3. I must get 1650 hits a day on my blog

Step 3
Take the 3 measurable goals and add them to a calendar or spreadsheet to look at every day on your computer or on the wall in front of your desk.

Take a day every week to reflect on the actions taken that week and what you need to do next week to get closer to your goal numbers. I like to do this on Fridays or Sundays.

Setting goals

Conclusion

So many people live in hope that the new year will be their best yet, but many of them simply fail to plan for it. I stopped making new years resolutions, instead, I start goal setting before the end of the old year.

Starting a business and growing it online, (if you have a brick and mortar business offline or a business online.) Learn what you need to know about getting started with the steps to building a business to make money online. The ways social media supports the online business model and the secrets I  learned the hard way, that I wish I had known when I got started.

Business goals are goal setting,  something that you write down and then get very clear about what you need to do to achieve them. All the best to you and your strategy goal setting in the new year.

Pinterest tips

Creating Your Boards

  • Name them with search in mind
  • Create your first board for your website
  • Name it the same as your site
  • Description links back to your own content only
  • Use keywords to have others find you

Create  15 – 20 boards for different topics in your niche or industry.  Think of these boards as curated pins around the topics that are of interest to your audience. Take into account the colors you use on your pins. To find more about colors see this.

Update your board descriptions on a regular basis.  Write descriptions  for your content you are pinning to your boards
using keywords from your list of keywords that are relevant to that board and its content.

To help with being consistent with your pinning you can use tools to help with finding pins in your niche and automatically pinning them for you.  The tool that I like to use is Tailwind. Smarter Visual Marketing  Automation of the pinning process.

Tribes (This is brand New on Pinterest) I use it with my Business Tailwind Account.
You will find all the Pins that you and your Tribemates have submitted. You can schedule pins directly from the Tribe
in a few clicks. Easy to do when you submit a pin to your Tribe, other Tribemates see your content so they can share it with their followers. Share with others ( Re-shares) content not just your own.

If you want to see how well your content is doing across the entire Tribe over time, you can always look in the Your Results section of the Tribe.

You’ll see three important metrics here:

  • Re-shares: how many times others have re-shared your content from the Tribe.
  • Repins: how many extra repins those re-shared Pins have received on Pinterest
  • Reach: how much additional reach (potential impressions) your content has received thanks to this Tribe.

With your Pinterest sign up be sure to read about Tribes and the Tribe rules of that tribe. They will be different for each Tribe. You see all your Tribe mates and you can chat with them if you wish to. Tribes are Free for anyone to get started even if you aren’t using Tailwind already.
