Business Ideas – Small Business Success

Everyone has daydreamed about what they want their life to look like.

“I want to visit a warm beach in the winter time.” My dream. Your own small business ideas can make that dream come true! Especially when you hear in the news every day that people are losing their jobs due to business cutbacks and layoffs. In the future, it may be because they are replaced by technology, even by robots. It’s happening!

The internet has created a massive opportunity for literally anyone to start a business from home. Millions of people are working part-time or full‐time from home. Some while holding down a job. Some have brick and mortar businesses offline, but use the internet to advertise.

Big Business Ideas for small businesses

Whether it’s an internet business online or a traditional  business that uses the internet to help promote their business, people who are starting their own businesses  need help. There are so many niche opportunities created every day with all the new technologies and inventions today.

Think of these multi-million business ideas – Uber. Now in more than 600 cities, US and Cdn. Uber Technologies Inc. is an American worldwide online transportation network company headquartered in San Francisco, California. It develops, markets and operates the Uber software application, which allows consumers to request  transportation of owner driven cars on their  app on mobile or  other devices. Pretty cool concept!

Apple currently celebrated their 10th year anniversary of the first iPhone.

“iPhone is how we make voice and FaceTime calls. Now we shoot and share live photos and 4K videos. We listen to streaming music, use social media, play games, and get directions. Also how we find new places, pay for things,  surf the web, do email, and  manage our contacts and calendars. Listen to podcasts, watch TV, movies and sports, and how we manage our fitness and health. iPhone has become all of these things and more. And I believe we are just getting started.” -CEO Tim Cook

Start Today! Below are several things you can do today -when starting a business of your own. Just a few simple things to do and you will immediately feel more in control of starting your new business.

Let’s start with –What do you want to get out of your own business?

  • Financial independence
  • More time with friends and family
  • Maybe the ability to travel?
Add what you would get from having your own business. Everyone has their own reasons.
You think you have a business idea and you know what to do for starting your business.
You think that there is no need to write it down, you have it all in your head. This is not the way to do it!! If this is what you are telling yourself, it’s incomplete at best and it will lead to failure in the end!
It’s not organized. You need business ideas, – make a list, moving it off your mental to-do list into a concrete plan.

Concrete Plan Tip #1

Schedule  (set) quantity of time every week- without fail!

Map out time to work on your business on your calendar. Online and also in a day timer. I use a weekly planner as well as a calendar online and make use of a whiteboard with coloured post-its.

Planning

  • On the yearly calendar. Put in red the things you need to do this year.
  • Next things that need to get done quarterly in blue – every 3 mths do a review.
  • Continue to plan all the way down to the month and even the week.

A wall calendar is a main way to stay organized. I also use Google calendars for keeping track of webinars, articles due etc.

Organization

Good business ideas are to put in:

  • Dr.’s appointments,
  • any family activities,
  • shopping and do schedule time off for yourself.

So go ahead and schedule what you need to do THIS WEEK and every day!

  • If you can delegate, do it. Put someone in charge of the laundry, shopping, and cooking etc.
  • use Fiverr to do things quickly that you don’t have time or talent to do something.

Concrete Tip# 2

  • Write down everything

Use a weekly paper report and include all business ideas for that week. Include diagrams, pictures, and articles – Do you have www.evernote.com?

For your computer and your phone and any devices. Check it out it’s free, store anything electronically.

As you build your business you really need to be crystal clear on your goals , where your business is going -your mission statement, – core statement, and alternative items.

Concrete Tip # 3

Cross -post your brand easily to many different platforms by using various tools

What social media do you need to use?

  • Who is your target audience?
  • Where do they hang out?

Some social media is particularly suited to use by women. Visual types of marketing like Pinterest and Instagram.

Schedule your social media by sharing. Tools that I use:

Concrete Tip #4

Find help with managing your business ideas

Do you like to blog? If so you likely want more traffic and engagement on your blog.

  • Block your time into sections
  • Turn off your phone and close browser windows.
  • Put a sign on the door -Do Not Disturb. – Set your timer.
  • At least one hour per task. Then take 15 mins for a break – get up and leave the computer. Set a timer to help you focus on the time allotted. Give your brain a rest and give your body a stretch.
  • Focus on your business when you need to. Completely disengage when you need to too.

A Mentor or Coach

Sometimes seeking a guide can be extremely helpful. It’s called mentoring. Someone with an objective view of things can probably offer excellent advice and business ideas. An outside advisor can help you strengthen your brand and your position in the marketplace. A coach can give you advice on products and services, as well as pricing. There is nothing like an objective view of things.
